乐德红土地位于自贡市荣县南部乐德镇天宫庙村，其母岩为白垩系窝头山组（K1w）砖红色铁泥质砂岩和泥岩。约1亿年前的四川盆地气候炎热干旱，沉积所形成的岩石因含丰富的铁质经氧化而呈赭红色；随着地壳运动发展，这些岩石重新裸露出地表，并经风化、淋滤等自然作用而形成为红色土壤。

Lede Red Soil locates at Tiangongmiao Village, Lede Town, South of Rongxian County, Zigong City. Its mother rock is brick-red argillaceous sandstone and mudstone of Wotoushan Formation (K1w) of Cretaceous system. About 100 million years ago, the climate in Sichuan Basin is hot and dry. The sedimentary rocks with rich contain of iron appear ochre after been oxidized; As the development of crustal movement, those rocks outcropped and formed red soil through weathering, eluviation and other natural processes.
